After 2 years of iteration, our newly released anchor bridle is genuinely innovative and unique in the marketplace. It uses 12 strand nylon that's 35% stronger than traditional 3 strand nylon. Due to its higher strength and non-torsional construction, smaller diameter lines can utilized, making for a stronger, smaller and lightweight bridle that can be folded and stuffed into small spaces. The clean design eliminates large splices that don't fit into chocks and burnt splice tails hanging up on gear. 12 strand is supple and silky smooth making it easy to cleat and easy on the hands.
The 12 strand anchor bridle uses nylon hollow braid line with a locking Brummel splice to capture the tubular gusseted stainless steel cast thimble at the midpoint to form the bridle. The shorter sizes come with soft eyes for the cleats and have anti-chafing spliced into them. The soft eyes are lock-stitched with #60 braided nylon twine. The longer sizes come with hand-whipped ends and all sizes come with chafe sleeves on the bridle legs for protection from chocks or hawses. The line is Samthane coated by the manufacturer to enhance UV and abrasion resistance.
Notes:
Sizing: See the "Sizing" tab for details. We recommend selecting a line diameter 1/8" smaller than a comparable 3-strand bridle line (e.g., 5/8" 12-strand replaces 3/4" 3-strand)
Soft eye size: 15" (measured on closed loop from splice to top of eye)
Suggested shackle sizes: 3/8” or 1/2"
Single line tensile strength (AVG): 16,000 lbs (7,257 kgs)
Estimated bridle tensile strength: 16,000 lbs X 1.65 = 26,400 lbs (11,975 kgs)
Estimated working load limit (WLL): @10% = 2,640 lbs (1,198 kgs) / @15% = 3,960 lbs (1,796 kgs)
Approx weight: 3.8 lbs (1.75 kgs)
Overall length is measured end-to-end with stretch sufficient to give it shape; finished length may vary +/- 4" due to uncontrollable conditions
