Anchor Snubber & Bridle Chain Hooks
HOW TO BUY
There are two types of anchor bridles: Y-style and 2 independent legged bridles. The Y-style is a single line snubber with a 2nd line spliced into it, which results in a bridle with a single hard eye (thimbled eye). Y-style bridles are very popular because, like single line snubbers, they work with most hooks on the market.
The 2 independent legged bridles are essentially 2 snubbers shackled to a hook with 2 appropriately sized shackles. Since most hooks on the market allow for only a single shackle, this bridle configuration works with a limited number of hooks. The Victory style and Seadog Chain Gripper Plate are the only snubber specific hooks we know of that work with this bridle configuration. There is a workaround to use any hook with this bridle configuration but it requires an extra large shackle which is attached to the hook and the smaller shackles are then attached to the larger shackle (yes, shackle-on-shackle). You can also buy a very large shackle and attach each line directly to it, but know that putting two hard eyes directly into a single shackle for 1/2", 5/8" or 3/4" lines will require a 3/4", 7/8" or 1" shackle respectively for the thimble to seat properly in the monster shackle. These monster shackles are expensive and will likely exceed the cost of the hook.
