The 48° North Marine Snubber Strop is designed to attach to the anchor chain using a simple single-pass prusik hitch, thus eliminating a metal chain hook. A bow shackle then attaches the strop to the snubber or bridle.
Our snubber pendants come in 3 sizes to support a wide range of boats. These should be sized by boat displacement and chain size. Each size should be of sufficient length to secure the snubber or bridle with a full prusik (i.e. 3 passes) although only a single or double pass is required for chains and 2 - 3 pass prusik is required for rope. It’s made using Samson's Amsteel Blue (not always blue), a cast captive and gusseted, stainless steel thimble, and Marlow Dyneema anti-chafe. Add a forged bow shackle and you're all set.
