Anchor Snubber Strops
Anchor snubber strop is a simple loop that replaces metal hooks and it attaches to the anchor chain with a single- or double-pass prusik hitch. Our strops are made with Dyneema and use a captive, gusseted SS thimble to preserve the exceedingly high-strength of this product. It comes with a Dyneema anti-chafe sleeve where it contacts the chain. We offer them in 3 sizes: 1/4", 5/16" and 3/8" to fit common recreational marine chain sizes and most boat weights. We're working on a 1/2" product for boat greater than 100gt; it should be available summer 2025.
The Anchor Snubber Strop is made from UHMWPE (SK-78 Dyneema) line and
is, ounce-for-ounce as strong as steel. For those who never cottoned to
metal hooks but find untying hitches after a rough night on the hook
might find this product handy. Prusiks are easy to tie and remove and
they generally travel through the bow roller without issue.
