Description

The Asano Gillnet snap hook is designed for strength and durability. Instead of forging wire, the body is cast from SUS 304 SS into a thick, highly finished piece. It is manufactured from a special stainless steel material that has superior abrasion and corrosion resistance characteristics. The gate has an interlocking "T" that engages with the body when closed and an oversize hinge pin to ensure strength is maintained. This hook is designed and sold for gillnetting where long nets can exert high loads. The idea to use commercial fishing snap hooks came to me after watching a fisherman pull his trawler up to a Coast Guard buoy while he worked on the engine. He used a gillnet snap hook tied to a mooring line to attach to the buoy ring.
